Description: RARE VINTAGE circa 1950 Swiss Army (Medic???) Military Backpack RucksackLeather/Cowhide/Pony Fur with Metal Medic Plate attached. Measures 15"x15"x5 1/2" I've searched for exact comparisons and have not seen one of these with the Swiss Army Medic Plate attached. There are (4) metal rivets holding the plate on visible from the inside. (Photo #4.)The circa 1950 date is a bit of a guess. There is no date stamp on this backpack, but I have another that I got from the same person that does have a date stamp of "50." There are two "makers marks" on the leather back straps with the Swiss cross and the numbers (2) and (3.) (See photo #8.) Very Good condition, all leather straps intact, some rust on metal buckles but they all work and move. Everything works. Most of the fur and leather is in great condition.There is even a small leather button on the inside that is still intact and pliable. (Photo #4.)There is a little fur loss near the bottom and one of the leather edges is a bit frayed. (See photos #10 and #9.)Inside lining is stained and is marked with an "M." (Presumably for "medic.") I've seen others marked with "Privet" on the inside that do not have the Swiss army cross attached on the outside. A really nice example of Swiss craftsmanship. This is very well made. Note: Shipping price is for delivery within the US. International shipping would be higher and based on the location of the buyer.
