(Both tags and certificates are IVORY.)Meet Abner Henley and Willy Roswell - Sweet Little Twin Boys! Both kids are signature-stamped (the signatures are slightly faded over time). Check out the cute shoes that are signed too! If you didn't know better you'd think Abner & Willy were new because their skin, clothing and hair is in wonderful condition. These Come from a smoke-free home and has been carefully stored away from pets. All of our Cabbage Patch Kids & Furskins come from our previous family's business. At the store back in the day, adoption parties were a regular thing because of their tremendous popularity and thrill these dolls brought their "parents". I hope you will enjoy a little background about the wonderful artist, Xavier Roberts... Mr. Roberts' dream began in 1977 when he was just 21 years old. That dream came to fruition a short time later when he opened the doors of "Babyland General" in 1978. He had an interest in sculpture, and at the time had quilting skills, which were passed down for generations in the Appalachian Mountains. The results of these two skills put together were life-size cloth babies, which were "so homely they were adorable", and fondly called "Little People". These were made "adoptable" in 1978 for the first time (in a converted clinic) just 70 miles from Atlanta, and nothing has not been the same since! Babyland General has been one of Georgia's most popular tourist attractions! The babies were not only popular, but they also came with their own Birth Certificates and Adoption papers! The growing popularity of these hand-stitched little people was only a hint of how popular the babies would become. In fact in 1982, Xavier Roberts granted Coleco Industries the license to produce smaller, mass-marketed versions of his babies, featuring vinyl heads and soft bodies. At that time, Xavier's Little People became "Cabbage Patch Kids". (In 1989 the license for the mass-produced versions transferred to Hasbro, Inc.). Just when you thought things might be slowing down, along came Xavier's sweet group of adventurous bears, The Furskins of Moody Hollow (introduced in 1985 & we will also list some of them).
