A GENUINE MUSEUM PIECE, this historic antique circa 1860's Masonic Holy Royal Arch Ritual sword was made by Pollard & Leighton, a firm that lasted only from 1863 to 1872. The firm was created to include swords by Abner W. Pollard, illustrious Freemason and longtime manufacturer of Aprons, Flags, Regalia etc. Pollard was a Knight Templar, Scottish Rite Mason, Odd Fellow and himself an officer in the Royal Arch in addition to being a City Councilman. His works are in Masonic museums and books. This sword is of the highest quality. The blade has masterful etchings of crests and imagery and is blue/blacked in the tradition of the finest military sabers. It also has as a blood groove. No personal names! The Gold Scabbard Mounts on White Leather have unique symbolic engravings. An engraved inscription on back of top mount says this sword was Presented to the Pilgrim R.A. Chapter by the Ladies. How much more special can it get! Grip is white painted over leather or wood with Ornate Gold Wire. Another interesting factor is that this Sword was specically designed so that the Knight’s Head Pommel must face to the right side. It will not go into the scabbard if facing left. In later years they no longer made Masonic swords in this way.This is a super-rare historical Freemasonry relic! Well over 150 years old, the Sword in in very good vintage condition with some normal expected age wear. The Blade looks almost new! One scabbard loop is missing (can be replaced) and a screw on top of pommel looks replaced. Sword in its Scabbard measures approximately 35 inches. Sword by itself is 35 ½ inches. Blade is 28 ¼ inches. The Knight's Head Pommel is a dynamic sculpture in miniature.
