Description: For sale is a pair of Rare Excellent Used Condition Vintage Red Wing Shoes 1166 Heritage Pecos Tan Leather Roper Cowboy Work Boots Nailseat Men's 12 D. For your consideration is a rare pair of Vintage Pecos boots from the famed American Bootmaker, Red Wing Shoes. From my research, this pair is the 1166 model/style, and features a rich tan leather, solid leather build and construction, and the notable Red Wing Cork Outsoles and Heels. They were likely made in the late 60s or early 70s. When the Red Wing Heritage Line debuted in 2008, much of the inspiration for those boots came from work boots/shoes of this period and quality; this pair obviously influencing the early iterations of the Pecos Heritage Nailseat Boots. These shoes feature a supple and richly patinaed tan leather, classic Red Wing 1166 Pecos design (the shoes the heritage nailseats are based off of), (unbranded - indicator of earlier Pecos) leather side pulls for easy on and off, unlined leather and fabric (for breathability) lining, leather sockliner, the older Red Wing Sweat-Proof Leather Insoles, leather welt, Oil Resistant Red Wing Cork Outsole, branded Red Wing Cork heel with nails, and Goodyear Welted Construction. For reference, here are the approximate measurements (taken along the outsole): Length - about 13.125" Width (at the ball of foot) - just under 4.375" These boots have seen a fair amount of wear, but have been well maintained. The leather uppers are richly patinaed supple, and I was unable to find any cracks/splits/tears. Similarly the inside of the boots are exceptional for their age and wear, and the leather insoles are smooth and well preserved (I was unable to detect any deleterious warping/cracks/splits). Although the outsole do have some wear, they have a tremendously amount of life left in them and are firm to the touch. I cleaned and conditioned these shoes, inside and out, with Weimans Leather Wipes, thoroughly cleaned them with Red Wing Foam Leather Cleaner, rehydrated/conditioned them with Red Wing Leather Cream (Neatsfoot Oil Blend - Recommended for Heritage Line, as it doesn't darken leather), polished (the foot area) with Saphir Beaute du Cuir Shoe Cream, and waterproofed them with Red Wing Leather Protector.
