Description: Here is a rare compilation of some Valentino rare moments. Most all taken from film transfers.this includes:1. "SEEING STARS". The title gives a look at stars of the early silent era. Valentino is featured in the end and this is the short that was probably originally called "The Sheik's Physique" Probably from the 20's. 8 min 2. "A SOCIETY SENSATION" A wealthy society playboy falls in love with the daughter of a poor fisherman. A rare short starring Valentino, Carmel Myers and Lydia Yeamans Titus. 1918 21 min 3. "IDOL OF A JAZZ AGE" This is a short from Castle Films and is documentary style. It tells of the early years when Valentino first arrived in Hollywood. Released in 1970's. 8 min 4. "88 American Beauties" This is a documentary featuring a beauty contest judged by Rudolph Valentino. During Valentino's two year long dispute with Famous Players-Lasky he was forbidden to work for other studios. To keep his name in the public eye he and his wife embarked on a cross continental dance tour sponsored by Mineralava cosmetics. One of his contractual obligations to Mineralava required him to judge a beauty contest, hence "Rudolph Valentino and His 88 American Beauties." There was a beauty contest after each performance (Rudy, probably wisely enough, let audience applause determine the winner in each city) with a grand finale in New York City where committee of five, including Valentino, determined the final winner. 1923 11 min 5. This is an untitled piece. It is titled "A Rudolph Valentino Feature" Produced and directed by Joe Maxwell. Perhaps a cut version of "The Married Virgin" from 1918. 60 min This comes in a hardshell case with artwork and title printed on disc. We do not offer refunds but will replace any defective disc.
