The Five-Two started out in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop. Seymour designed it for some of Nashville's top session players. It achieved such a phenomenal popularity amongst players of all styles, they decided to release it to the public. Duncan uses Alnico in so many of their pickups because its lower string pull and softer magnetic field improve sustain and help smooth out the tone. The Five-Two is the first pickup series to combine multiple Alnico magnet types, strategically placed to deliver a bright and springy low end and a full and smooth top end. Here's how the Five-Two works: they utilize Alnico V magnets on the three low strings. This adds more definition and punch to the bottom end. They use Alnico II magnets on the three high strings. This gives you a warm and smooth top end withough sacrificing that great tele twang. The result is an all around well balanced tele pickup. The neck pickup is reverse wound reverse polarity (rwrp) to create a hum-free performance when using with the bridge pickup.
