Description: A signed first edition, third state (glossy boards, three signatures to the binding) of The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. Signed on the blank page facing the title page as is customary for his signatures. No dust jacket. The hard spine is beginning to separate along the back hinge. The book is still intact as the end paper is keeping the backboard attached to the text block. Shelfwear present and some color has worn off the edges of the boards. The corners half have been rubbed to the cardboard beneath. Bookplates of previous owners on the FFEP. Clearly a one well read copy but extremely rare to find such an early printing signed.
