Calvin earned B.S. degrees in Behavioral Science and Psychology at Westminster College and the University of Utah. He also holds a M.Ed. degree in Special Education and M.S. degree in Information Technology from the University of Utah and Capella University. Calvin worked in a variety of fields including teaching, corrections and case management. Susan wrote, "Sotos Syndrome: A Tribute to Sandy" about her daughter born with the rare genetic order. After becoming disabled herself, Susan and Calvin, co-created and now direct the Periodic Paralysis Network. They provide advocacy, education and support to individuals with Periodic Paralysis, another rare genetic disorder. They recently co-authored and published "Living With Periodic Paralysis: The Mystery Unraveled" the first book written about the condition. Calvin and Susan are now retired and enjoy the peace and beauty of the forest in their new home on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. They live with their two spoiled cats and plenty of wildlife. They are presently writing their next books and continue to work daily to help others with Periodic Paralysis.
