Description: A bound volume of The Bookman magazine from September 1930 through February 1931, inclusive. 668 pages plus additional material. Contributing authors include T.S. Eliot, Hugh Walpole, G.K. Chesterton, Conrad Aiken, Princess Marthe Bibesco, and many others. Condition: The cover shows wear, but the binding is intact. The volume is ex-library but contains no library markings except a stamp inside the front cover ("Free Public Library, Mankato, Minn."). Individual magazine covers were not included when the issues were bound. The inside pages appear clean; we did not notice any pen or pencil notations. The Bookman was published in New York City from 1895-1933, offering commentary and fiction from prominent American authors. The journal's first issue in February 1895 included America's first bestseller list, a feature that was continued in subsequent issues. In 1918, the journal was bought by the George H. Doran Company and then sold in April 1927 to Burton Rascoe and Seward B. Collins. After Rascoe's departure in April 1928, Collins continued to edit and publish the magazine until it ceased publication in 1933.
