Description: If you know American double-guns, this two-volume set needs no introduction. The Parker Story is the de facto "bible" for Parker shotgun owners. And who better to publish it than Daniel and Joanna Cote, longtime publishers of The Double Gun Journal. They brought to this book-publishing venture the same incredible standards of publication quality they insisted upon with their journal. To that end, The Parker Story is written by the leading experts on the history of Parker firearms and is lavishly illustrated in both black and white, and color. The volumes are printed on heavyweight, high-quality glossy paper, and each is sewn into its binding between heavy boards. The weight of the set alone attests to the quality of the materials used; as shown in the last photo, the two volumes tip the scales at just under twelve pounds. This is the first-edition/first-printing clothbound set, one of only 3,300 published, and is in excellent condition. Volume I of this set has been unsealed and opened, but the stiffness of the hinge and binding suggests it has not seen much, if any, use. Some very minor scuffing at the top and bottom of the spine and bumping on one of the corners suggest it may have been shelved by its previous owner, but it is otherwise clean, straight, and unblemished. Volume II remains sealed and unopened in its bindery shrink-wrap. For complete details on the publishing and bibliographical notes of the edition, see the second photo, which depicts the verso of the title page and contains all publication data showing this set to be a first edition and first printing. While published in 1998, this set was purchased on December 23 of 2009 from The Double Gun Journal, apparently, as a hand-written note from "Heidi" (Haven, presumably) is included, thanking the purchaser, "Len." An errata sheet is also included. This set would make a perfect gift for any Parker owner in your life--or buy it for yourself for the invaluable information it supplies and to proudly display your allegiance to one of the most iconic firearm manufacturers of all time. Scarce in this sort of fine/unsealed condition, this set represents an exceptionally rare find that is sure to appreciate in value. Please ask any and all questions before you buy, as I do not accept returns for any reason. This set will ship, expertly packed, via USPS Media Mail to any address in the CONUS for a flat $19.95 (contact me for a shipping quote to AK or HI). Because of the onerous paperwork and documentation required for export, I regret that I cannot ship this set outside the US; please do not buy if you intend to have it shipped anywhere other than to a domestic address. Of course, local pickup is welcomed here in Hamburg, New York, and is absolutely free. Buy with confidence; I've been an eBayer since 1998, with a special focus on scarce sporting books and ephemera. I'm very proud of the flawless feedback record I've earned in that 26-year career--639 positive transactions and counting. I'm confident I’ll earn number 640 from you with this purchase. As always, thanks for your interest.
