NOT inscribed to anyone, simply SIGNED by the great John Toland! A TRUE First American Edition/First Printing/First State with ALL First Edition Points present! Numerous First Edition Points are necessary to denote the TRUE First/First of this title. Principal among them, as was customary with Random House titles during this time period, the number line ends with "2" and the "First Edition" statement is clearly stated. There are other significant points of issue, but these two appear to be the points most often asked about. Thankfully, Random House has made all pertinent points of issues for their various eras easily available on their site and can be viewed online. This rare treasure has some clearly visible wear, but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The book appears gently read and has no internal writing, no foxing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding feels a bit loose/shaky, but is still holding tight and the pages are surprisingly crisp and clean! In regards to the binding, while all of the pages are present and fully attached, one can clearly see some pulling away/separation along the top edge. This area/wear was closely photographed for your consideration. Some general/shelf wear along with scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, marks/wear to the edge/fore pages and creases/wear to some of the pages, NOT affecting the text! Please note the wear to the cloth boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges, and the creases/wear that is present on some of the pages. The wear, particularly to some of the pages, is clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original, First State dust jacket is price-clipped, otherwise fully intact! Some general/shelf wear along with creases. scuffing, rubbing and rips. Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges. The wear, particularly near/along the edges and at the corners, is clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. Once again, we want to reiterate that the wear to both the book and the dust jacket is clearly visible! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. Numerous photographs from various angles were taken for your consideration/inspection. Please closely and carefully view ALL the pictures for further clarification!! Following the conclusion of the auction, payment must be received within three days or the book will be re-listed. Please feel free to contact us with any and all questions. We are very proud of our 100% positive feedback/ranking and offer an easy, no questions asked return policy so you can buy with confidence! Thank you!!
