The Tender Trap by Max Shulman & Robert Paul Smith SIGNED by Shulman

Description: Max Shulman (1919-1988) was an American writer and humorist famous for creating the character Dobie Gillis in his short stories and then on the TV series "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" (1959-1963). His 1954 play "The Tender Trap" was not as successful as the film version starring Frank Sinatra and Debbie Reynolds. He also wrote "House Calls" with Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson, based on one of his stories, and was nominated for a Tony Award for the libretto of the musical "How Now, Dow Jones" (1968). This Fireside Theatre Book Club edition from 1955 was inscribed by Shulman to Irving and Eve Brecher. Irving (1914-2008) was a screenwriter who wrote for the Marx Brothers among others and was the only writer ever to receive sole credit, twice, on a Marx Brother film: "At the Circus" and "Go West." He also was nominated for an Oscar for writing "Meet Me in St. Louis" (1944), wrote "Shadow of the Thin Man" and "Bye Bye Birdie" and was creator of "The Life of Riley."
