Description: Vintage 1936 Monopoly Game with Game Board. Parker Brothers earliest Blue Box Edition from early - mid 1936 with wooden tokens. It is a rare 1936 Edition of Monopoly; most 1936 editions available were manufactured after this edition. This game can be dated using the information on the Box & Game Board labels and the contents of the game: Box & Board Labels do not include “A Parker Trading Game” or “Made in USA”, which were added in late 1936. Community Chest and Chance cards do not have any illustrations on them; these were added in late 1936. The cards are blank on one side. The game contains wooden tokens, consistent with some 1936 editions. The Box and Game Board Labels include the following legal statements printed underneath the “Monopoly” name, which only appeared in this manner on 1936 Editions (the legal statements are also printed on the center of the game board & on the Instruction pamphlet): Reg. U.S. Patent Office/Copyright 1935 By Parker Brothers, Inc./U.S. Patents 1,509,312 - 2,026,082 Copyright 1935 By Parker Brothers Inc. is also printed on the bills. It has been in our family for over 60 years; it was a well-loved and often played game. I am not sure how our family acquired this game; it may have been purchased at an estate sale for a family game. Board, box, cards and money show wear from years of play. Board has wear on the edges, but the folded binding is intact. There is also damage to the game board playing surface on the Tennessee property. Some of the box corners are torn or have been previously taped. The Property Deed, Community Chest, and Chance cards have creases and worn edges. Most bills are in good shape. However, several bills have tears or missing corners (five bills were separated in the photo to show examples of the damage bills). The Instruction pamphlet has tears in the folded creases. The Box, one Property Deed card, and the Instruction pamphlet have writing on them. Please see photos for the condition of game. **Note: Kentucky Deed card is missing; a hand-written card was made to replace it, with obviously incorrect rents. It is a great vintage game to add your game board collection, or transport yourself back to a simpler time and revive family game night, and enjoy playing this vintage game with your family for hours of fun!
