Description: Vintage 1974 Pontiac Ventura Dealer Brochure Pontiac, Michigan 12 x 10 1/2" ~ These have never been opened by human hands beside the one I photographed. This was a recent find I couldn't pass up. These were mint when I found them and still in the dealer banding. Unfortunately, when they were shipped to me they were dropped on the edge of the top right corner mostly and have a faint "bump mark". You have to look really closely to see it. Never would see it on display but please see the pictures and video and judge for yourself. Priced accordingly. The Ventura was first made in 1960 as a new higher-priced model and the last ones were made in 1978. its name was derived from Ventura, California. It had a unique exterior with deluxe wheel covers, a sport steering wheel, and distinctive tri-tone seats done in vinyl. This is the first year and last year with the GTO option if you were lucky to get one. The GTO package beefed up the Ventura with a 350 cu in. (5.7L) engine with a four-barrel carburetor of about 200 hp (149 kW). This amazing package also came with a functional "shaker" hood scoop, tri-color GTO decals, Rally II wheels, and special grill-mounted driving lights. The brochure doesn't mention the GTO options availability and in 1975 the GTO package was discontinued. The last Pontiacs, an American Icon, were built in December 2009, with one final vehicle assembled in January 2010. Pontiac was founded in 1907 in Pontiac, Michigan, by Edward Murphy, a manufacturer of horse-drawn carriages. It was named after the famous Ottawa chief, whom the city of Pontiac, Michigan was also named after, where the car was produced. Pontiac emphasized its "Wide Track" design, it billed itself as the "performance" division of General Motors, which "built excitement. I actually used to sell Pontiacs and they were so much fun to drive! Pontiacs were easily identified by their pointed "arrowhead" nose (in the 1960s and 1970s) or multiple horizontal-striped taillights. Vintage auto brochures of American Icons are a reminder of a bygone era. Once the limited supply for sale is gone and on display with collectors or in galleries then they will be very difficult to acquire. Imagine this amazing vintage advertising hanging as home decor in any room of your home instead of a museum!
