Description: VINTAGE FRATERNAL ORGANIZATION BLACK BALL WOODEN BALLOT BOXFor consideration is one vintage and nicely preserved example of an early wooden ballot box. This was/is used by fraternal organizations to vote for new members, and if you received a Black Marble, you weren't accepted, hence the term 'Black Balled' was born. The box measures 12" Long, 5" wide and 4.5" high. This is neat and fully functional early collectible with great presentational value. Believe to be made of a harder wood (exact type unknown). I did not observe any maker’s marks/cartouches evident anywhere on the piece, so an exact manufacture/builder or date of production is unknown. As with many of the vintage items I list I’ve opted to NOT polish, clean or enhance the items appearance as I will leave at the discretion of the buyer as to how they wish for this piece to ultimately be presented.
