Description: Offered is a medium-small rectangular vintage serving tray by the Couroc Company of Monterey with an image of three ducks. The image is made from pieces of brass, other metals, shell, and wood. Each Couroc piece is a work of art, while serving as a functional piece of serveware. Looking great in the bar or the kitchen, this handsome tray is in very good vintage condition, no chips or cracks. It does have some very light utensil marks, and two spots of light smudging. The Duck tray measures 9.5”x12x5”. The Couroc of Monterey company was founded in 1948 at the pinnacle of mid-century modernism, and was in business until the 1990s. The founder, Guthrie Courvoisier, while making plastics for use in WWII, invented a type of resin called "Phenolyn" which he used to make his trays and dishes. His wife, Moira Wallace designed the images, and they hired artisans to make each piece. A Couroc motto was "Any tray can serve a drink. Only Couroc can start a conversation." We pack carefully and safely using clean recycled/reused materials whenever possible. Buyer pays shipping. Cross-posted, from smoke-free home with pets.
