Last photo shows backside of fabric. This is a very rare find in the US as this French manufacturer of fabrics and clothing has traditionally been sold mainly in the South of France. The vogue for Indian style fabrics in France began in the 1600s, but it was expensive to import and a French version, called "indienne" became popular. These fabrics were based on block printing techniques from India and at one time they were banned in order to promote traditional French fabrics. However, these cheerful styles were still in demand. Some factories survived into the industrial age and even survived WWII, the main one being Souleiado which began producing garments in 1950 out of a much older factory. This fabric is likely from the 1970s or 80s- the same period when Lady Diana was photographed using a Souleiado bag for a purse. It was one of her favorites for casual wear.
