Description: This vintage ceramic table tray was manufactured in 1962 in the USA. It features the Navy's U.S.S. Briareus "The Busy Bee", a Delta class repair ship. It measures 6-3/4" wide and 3/4" tall. The ashtray is suitable for display or cigar smokers and tobacciana collectors. This is a very rare and unique 1962 reunion tray gift item, and was made for a one day event in Atlantic City N.J. on October 13th 1962. It was made to honor those who served during WW2 on the U.S.S. Briareus and until it's decommission on September 9th 1955. It was commissioned on November 15th 1943 during the tail end of WW2. It was a repair ship which we don't really seem to hear very much about, but during war time and battle ships getting battle damaged you need a fleet of repair ships to keep this moving along, this was one of those. It was nicknamed "The Busy bee" because it was a very busy ship making much needed repairs all over in international waters. Please look over the photos and read the conditions description for more details.
