Description: I love the mesh candy containers! They are all handmade, and so are always slightly different. They were made with really cheap materials, so when they survive, they often are damaged. This one has a cardboard circle in the bottom of his mesh. He is stuffed with cotton; he woud have been filled with candies, and hanging from the tree. He has two flaws - his celluloid face is cracked, and his cord that is through the neck of his mesh was missing, so I replaced it so it could gather his suit, and he could hang. Two of his mercury beads on his suit are brighter than the one in the middle, so may have been replaced. Hi flannel is bright red, which can often be faded. Don't store him where sunlight gets to him, as this inexpensive fabric really fades and deteriorates in sunlight. His mesh is great, with just a few spots on the back. His boots and hands are both made from composite (a combination of glue, sawdust and plaster). They are great, with no damage. Overall he displays really great. I have been collecting mesh Santas for quite some time, and have decided that I need to sell them and all their vintage friends! I have been a collector and reseller of vintage Christmas items since 1999. I am 74, and they need to find a new home. I hope you like them! I try to describe them completely so you are not surprised! Or if you are, it's in a good way. The reason I have so many pieces for sale right now is that I am selling all my stuff. Anyhoo, this fellow is about 6.5" tall.
