Description: This vintage Wedgewood creamer and sugar set is a stunning addition to any collection. Made in England, the set includes a round creamer and sugar bowl with an embossed floral design on a glossy, white earthenware finish. The set is an original and is backstamped with "Etruria & Barlaston" and the production technique is pottery. The set is perfect for decorative use or for serving cream and sugar during tea time. The set is not handmade and comes from a line of production called "Earthenware". This item is a must-have for collectors of vintage pottery and Wedgewood items. Wedgwood's enduring appeal among the world's Royal Families and Heads of State began with Queen Charlotte, who ordered a set of cream-colored earthernware. It pleased her so much that Josiah Wedgwood was granted permission to style himself 'Potter to Her Majesty' and call his innovative Creamware 'Queen's Ware'. Since the time of Queen Charlotte, Wedgwood collections were to grace the tables of British monarchs and many other illustrious Heads of State, such as in the Vatican, the Kremlin and the White House. It was also the brand of choice for some of the world's most prestigious hotels. "Etruria & Barlaston" on a Wedgwood piece indicates that the item was produced in the factory named Etruria and Barlaston. The factory was part of the Wedgwood business and was named after the district in Stoke-on-Trent, England where Josiah Wedgwood opened it in 1769. The factory was in operation for 180 years. The name Etruria was added to Wedgwood pieces during two periods: 1840–1841 and 1905–1925. Barlaston was added between 1939 and the 1950s. All vintage items are sold "as is". Please examine the photos and ask me any questions you may have before you bid or buy. The photos are used to visually describe the items. I do my research as best I can, and never intend to mislead anyone. PLEASE, ask questions. Thanks for looking!
