WELLER POTTERY, CORNISH BULBOUS BLUE PLANTER, JARDINERE, VASE, ARTS & CRAFTS~~~

Description: For auction is a lovely piece of art pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Cornish" and the form is a planter, jardinière or vase. The vase measures 7 1/4" in diameter outside handles measurement. The jardinière is 4" tall and the foot has a diameter of 2 1/2". The top opening is 4 1/8" The vase depicts a mottled Robins egg blue background glaze. There are embossed leaves with a stem that has berries hanging from it. The leaves overlap three rings that surround the vase along the top area and there are mock scroll handles applied on each side of the vase. The back of the vase is plain except for the mottled glaze. The leaves have an olive green hue to them with orangey brown tips and three of the berries are glazed in a dark blue and the other 3 being a purple color. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The vase is signed on the bottom with the incised script "Weller" as well as the letter "A" written in black. This was more than likely the artist or the finisher's mark. This planter will work well in any arts and crafts or mission style setting as well as any country décor. This vase was made circa 1933. They are also now charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges. If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
