During WWII, standards were established for a Caliber .30 Ball round that would be used by both the Army and Navy. Those standards included tighter ballistics and increased waterproofing. The cartridge was designated "ANM2", with the "AN" referring to Army-Navy standards of the "M2" Ball cartridge. Production of the ANM2 cartridge was started in 1951 at the request of the U.S. Navy. Production contracts were issued to Winchester Repeating Arms Co., Western Cartridge Co. and Remington Arms Co., and was limited to 1 million rounds. All contracts ended in 1958.Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 2 unassembled cartons with dividers and labels. The Winchester Repeating Arms label has a lot number matching my original, and a caution note that was added to the label due to the introduction of the new 7.62mm NATO cartridge. The cartons, dividers, and labels will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions.
