Description: The famous LZ127 was the most successful and long-lived dirigible ever constructed, logging over a million miles of passenger service including an around-the-world flight in 1929. The first flight of the Graf Zeppelin was September 18, 1928 and was piloted by Hugo Eckner. The airship was 776' long, had a diameter of 100' and contained 3.7 million cubic feet of hydrogen. It was powered by five Maybach engines that produced 550 HP each, and attained a maximum forward speed of 80 MPH. LZ127 was dismantled in 1940 along with the Graf Zeppelin 2 (LZ130). This Winston Classic kit of the famous LZ127 Graf Zeppelin results in a stunning 31" long display model. Plans for this model were originally penned over 30 years ago, and Megatech designers decided to "re-engineer" a kit to the standards of today's discriminating model builder. Features like laser-cut lite plywood bulkheads, contest quality balsa and formed plastic detail parts make this model simple to assemble for anyone with balsa kit building experience. Extra details like clear celluloid (to simulate rotating propellers) and black nylon string (for control linkage and antennas), and quality covering tissue result in a model you'll be proud to finish and display.Scale is 1:300. A Vietnam disabled combat veteran, I never got around to building this wonderful kit. We are downsizing to move into senior housing. Time for this great kit to find a new home. Please view photos carefully as this is the actual model kit being sold.Retail, if you can find it often over $200.
