Horster Model: M1890 Blade Length: 32.25" Serial #: N/A TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Offered here is a imperial WWI era German M1890 dove head NCO dress sword and scabbard. These were used by cavalry or mounted artillery for dress events and not specifically for battles. Overall, this sword is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its age and history. The pommel, back-strap, quillon and knuckle-bow guard are all securely fastened to the hilt. They have heavy oxidation and light scrapes. The Bakelite grips have a couple light handling marks and scuffs, but no notable wear. It retains its black finish. The gold chord is bound tightly around the grip. There are no broken pieces and it has started to turn a golden patina color. When put up to a light, the sword appears to be straight. The blade's spine, fullers and sides have light scattered scrapes (almost not worth mentioning) and scuffs. There are no nicks or dings on the blade's cutting edge and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. The blade has a nickel or chrome finish and practically all of it is intact. The spine has an etched marking "E.&F. HORSTER, WAFFENFABRIC, SOLINGEN". The right ricasso is hard to see, but it appears to have the Horster logo along with "E.&F. Horster" from what we can see. There are no other visible markings. The scabbard is in Fair - Good condition, considering its age and history. The suspension ring mount is securely fastened to the body, the ring rotates and swivels smoothly and the finish has a layer of oxidation. The throat, body and drag have scattered oxidation and scrapes. Some of the original finish still remains and has turned a flat black patina color. There are no visible markings on the scabbard. This sword and scabbard will be a great addition to your German WWI collection, or a sword collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
